Coconut oil is all the rage, with uses ranging from hair conditioning to cooking. But some swear by it as a natural acne treatment. To use coconut oil as an acne treatment, you can include it as part of a healthy diet. The fatty acids like lauric acid caprylic acid are metabolized into antibacterial agents in the body. Or, you can apply a very small amount and rub directly onto your skin after cleansing for an extra hydrating boost.
You can also mix one tablespoon of lemon juice with one teaspoon of cinnamon powder and put it on the pimples overnight. In the morning, wash the skin well with lukewarm water. However, this particular remedy is not suitable for those with sensitive skin.
Rubbing an ice cube on your face helps to shrink the affected area, bring down the burning sensation and lessen the swelling. It is also effective in reducing inflammation. It helps to improve the blood circulation when applied on the affected areas of the skin.
When dealing with chin and jawline acne, there are two goals. First and foremost, you want to prevent breakouts from ever appearing in the first place. Of course, this is easier said than done. However, minimizing the bacteria that are trapped in pores should help significantly.
Not all fabrics are created the same. To vigorously, yet gently exfoliate your skin, you need something that is specially designed for this purpose. Derm-X from Exposed is a microfiber cloth with polyamide that not only gently exfoliates your skin, but it also smoothens your skin and evens out your skin tone.
(That’s dermatologist jargon for popping.) Reach for an extraction tool like the Tweezerman No Slip Tool—a sleek metal noose that evacuates your pores with the slightest application of pressure. I’m not going to say that your fingers won’t do the trick, but press too hard, and you run the risk of making the whole thing worse. Tweezerman’s tool is gentle and foolproof, and you can use it for blackheads, too.

When out in the sun for long periods of time, stay in the shade as much as possible and wear a wide-brimmed hat and light, long-sleeved clothing. “Stress leads to increased cortisol levels,” says dermatologist Ava Shamban. Like testosterone, cortisol is a hormone that can increase oiliness as well as inflammation. Not a good combo when you want to avoid being red in the face. Once upon a time, our bodies produced cortisol only when we were in danger, but nowadays, it’s much more likely to flood your system in response to a looming deadline than in response to a predator in the underbrush. So when your acne starts acting up, take a minute to figure out whether there’s anything you’re freaking out over, then unload all of that skin-wrecking stress.
Washing your face with regular soap is not enough to make acne better. The best face wash for acne is effective at removing oil and dirt, but still gentle enough to use regularly without overdrying your skin. Look for topical acne medication ingredients salicylic acid and/or benzoyl peroxide in your face wash and use gentle, nonabrasive cleansing techniques.
take fresh neem leaves and some turmeric and grind that and apply it on affected area and you’ll see the miracle in the first use itself this really works but boys see that you use the turmeric in a less quantity
I think that the toothpaste works the best. The icecube is very helpful though, about 30 minutes before work or school, just put an icecube on your pimple, and it will be less redin about 10 minutes. So the icecube does work, but not to clear acne for me. I have heard to use garlic though, so I will be trying that with some crushed garlic. For those who need more tips I suggest:

I read your article on the arm bumps and was planning to include comments about getting gluten out of your diet. I discovered I am Celiac. I had to get gluten out of my diet completely. To my delight the dry skin and arm rash as well as rash on my legs went away. Also many allergy symptoms, head aches, and many more negative symptoms dissappeared!! The rash may not be gluten induced for you, but I think it would be wise to try an elimination diet with some of the main food allergens. You may stumble on the true answer… Read more »
Home remedies work great for hyperpigmentation marks in the long run. Yet, keep in mind, they won’t remove your scars overnight, they will help fade the marks but that will take some time to get results.
I not only get folliculitis on my butt, it also occurs on the back of my upper legs. Its so frustrating and embarrassing, it occurs more often when I begin to exercise; i rush home from the gym to shower and change but no luck. The only product that has worked for me is “butt acne clearing lotion” by Green Heart Labs. It has Lactic Acid one of the medication the article recommends. I say give it a try, just remember with any skin product it time to work – don’t expect results over night. Good Luck everyone.

Sneaky every day habits could secretly be doing a number on your skin. Even something as seemingly harmless as wearing over-the-ear headphones could be the culprit to breakouts around your temples and jawline. “This is especially the case when you wear them during and after a workout, or if you keep them on for long periods of time. Sweat and moisture collect on and around the headphones, compressing the skin and therefore encouraging bacteria and yeast to multiply,” says dermatologist and Simple advisory board member, Dr. Debra Luftman. Gross, but true. Use an anti-bacterial wipe to quickly disinfect your headphones.
Blackheads are open pores filled with dead skin and oil, and they appear black at the surface. It is due to the way the clogged pore looks in the light, not because the pore is filled with black dirt.
Honey’s antibiotic properties can help improve acne. Apply a teaspoon of honey to affected areas, or make a mask by mixing 1/2 cup of honey with 1 cup of plain oatmeal and leaving it on for 30 minutes.
Take regular baths. Preferably, with a soap like Cetaphil Antibacterial Gentle Cleansing Bar that won’t only cleanse your skin gently, but will also remove excess oil from your skin to prevent pore clogging.
Probably the easiest way to use vitamin E for healing scars is to simply puncture the end of a gel capsule and squeeze the contents onto your fingertip. Apply the oil directly to scarred skin or mix it into your daily moisturizer to help heal acne and pimple scars faster.
Warm compress worked really well! Brought it to the surface after having it applied for 5-10 minutes. I was then able to clear it out and put some Sudocrem on it for it’s antiseptic qualities. It leaves it a little red and maybe initially noticeable, but more importantly it starts the regeneration process. Give it a try guys and gals!
While hot compress is used to bring the blind pimples to head, sometimes ice is also recommended to be used to soothe the painful under the skin pimples. So, if you have a very tender and very painful blind pimple with excessive inflammation, you can consider using a cold ice compress too. Ice packs are particularly recommended if the pain from blind pimple is severe. Pain is caused by inflammation. When you apply ice, it cools the area and this cooling constricts the blood vessels thereby reducing blood supply to that area. Reduced blood supply helps fight off bacteria who cannot survive for long.
Exercises – Stress is one of many reasons that can cause pimples. Exercise is an easy way to de-stress and calm your mind. Include simple aerobic exercises like walking, running, and jogging in your routine.

Well, I didn’t need creams, gels, or lotions such as benzoyl peroxide, retinoid acid, salicylic acid, glycolic acid peels, or topical antibiotics (all of which might have helped symptoms a little bit).
