Dirt – Dust and other dirt can block the pores of your skin and it can lead to acne. If you have an oily skin, the more chances you’ll it will block and stay on your pores, leading to black and white heads. Once it blocked your pores, it could lead to inflammation and acne.
Another contributing cause of many cases of acne is bacteria and the bad news is most phones—which most of us are essentially tethered to like an umbilical cord—are teeming with it. According to a 2011 study from London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, 92 percent of cell phones carry some type of bacteria. Dr. Birchall explains that when that bacteria is then repeatedly pressed against the face during phone calls, acne can get exacerbated. The same is also true for pillow cases that rarely see the washing machine or dirty makeup brushes. Thankfully, combatting that is simple enough: He suggests regularly cleaning anything the face contacts. These are everyday items you should be washing a lot more often.
It diminishes the redness and swelling and also acts as an astringent. Its antimicrobial properties clear the infection causing the pimples (8). You can use this oil to treat entire sections of your face, like the forehead or the cheeks, which are affected by pimples.
When you need to reduce redness and inflammation, put some ice on it. Wrap an ice cube in a piece of fabric and hold it against your pimple. Ice it on and off for about 10 minutes, and it should look and feel much better.
Thanks to the exfoliating malic acid ( another alpha hydroxyacid), it’s great for acne scars. It also has antibacterial properties that help prevent the formation of new acne and pimples. If you have dull skin, apple cider vinegar will fix that right up too.

Ideally, do this in the shower where warm water will naturally help open pores. Popping pimples in the shower also ensures you’re in a clean environment. Otherwise, use clean hands and put a warm compress on the pimple to help draw it out. After you squeeze all the contents out, wash your hands again to avoid spreading the bacteria to another site on your skin—or even someone else. (Yikes!)
The toothpaste really works. I first tried putting it on at night- and I suppose it helped some. But what works better for me is to put it on after I wash my face in the morning with a scrub. It stings more but it’s not that bad. I keep it on for 30 minutes and then I wash it off.
All of the methods above will work, it just depends on your kind of skin. Some are more effective than others, the ice being the best method. I, too, have tried the ice, and it did work, but only for a while. The lemon solution is a good way to calm down pimples, but the citric acid in it might sting, so as FABULOUS~1 said above, diluting the juice with water will have a less reactive result. The toothpaste is good for drying out spots, but you have to make sure that it is not a gel toothpaste. After you have done the toothpaste method, you should probably moisturise your skin afterwards because your skin will be very dry. I wouldn’t recommend the garlic method ; I haven’t tried it, but I’ve never seen that method online anywhere else. It will probably make your face smell, too. So far, for me, none of these method have truly worked, but I found that when I washed and moisturised my face, morning and evening, it definitely worked for me.
Shower clean yourself after you exercise. When you sweat, your pores can get clogged with salty, dirty residue that’s leftover from your workout. Be sure to wash your body, and especially your face, after you exercise.
