Learn how sea salt treats acne. Experts don’t actually know exactly how sea salt reduces acne. It may be that the high salt concentration helps kill off bacteria or that the sea salt replenishes minerals that help heal the skin. Sea salt may also be helpful in dissolving sebum.

Tea tree oil is an effective remedy for pimples. But if you are wondering why you should add oil to your oil-clogged face, then hear this: Tea tree oil is unique. Unlike the natural oil produced by your skin, it acts like a solvent and penetrates through the extra sebum, unblocks the pores and eliminates the dead cells. It also has strong antibacterial properties.
Sodium bicarbonate, glorious sodium bicarbonate, swoops in and makes itself useful in too many ways to count. In the case of acne remedies, this fabulous substance (also known as baking soda) is useful thanks to its mild antiseptic properties, as well as its uncanny ability to fight off fungus and bacteria and dry up excess oil, all while exfoliating your skin via microdermabrasion and making it soft and beautiful. I know-I get star struck too now whenever I see a box of baking soda.
Which means acne treatments are not one size fits all. “people fall into the trap of not knowing how to treat their specific type,” Renée says about the no. 1 misunderstanding people have about their skin. “And determining the cause can be tricky especially if you are someone who typically eats well and takes good care of their skin.” While your impulse might be to dry all of your skin out, it’s important to remember that acne is an inflammatory disease of the skin. Focus on incorporating calming products along with bacteria-reducing ingredients to address your concerns.

Let yogurt or milk come to room temperature (or close to) so you don’t get a chilly shock when you put it on your skin. Mix 1 tablespoon of milk or yogurt thoroughly with 1 tablespoon of honey. You can apply the mixture with a cotton pad, but scooping it up and patting it on works just fine as well. Let each layer dry before adding a new one, until the mask is the thickness you want. Let it sit for 10-15 Wash your mask off and use a washcloth to gently scrub in a circular motion, getting rid of loosened dead skin. Once you’re finished, moisturize as usual.

“It’s never a good idea to squeeze a pimple,” says Elizabeth Tanzi, M.D., founder and director of Capital Laser and Skin Care and assistant clinical professor at George Washington University Medical Center. What is okay? Drawing out a big pimple once the whitehead is poking through your skin. Dr. Tanzi recommends using a washcloth with hot—“but not scalding”—water, to excavate the puss before applying your spot treatment.
Do not squeeze or prick the pimples or blackheads. This will increase sebum production and also let the bacteria spread on the surface of the skin, leading to more pimples. It can also lead to permanent pigmentation.
Irritation from clothing or the chemicals in cosmetics can also cause forehead acne, especially if your skin is sensitive. You may get a breakout after you use a new makeup brand, or if you wear a hat or headband that irritates your skin. Touching your face often can also lead to acne. Your fingers deposit oil and bacteria onto your skin and into your pores.
How to use: Directly cut open the Aloe leaf. Extract the gel and apply it on the zits. Leave it on for as many hours as possible, preferably overnight. Wash off with warm water. Repeat application 3-4 times daily when you want to get rid of zits that pop up suddenly.
If not treated, acne can cause scarring. Scarring is more likely when the skin is inflamed, swollen, reddish and painful, such as cystic acne and nodules. This form of acne penetrates deep into the skin, causing damage. Delaying treatment can cause scarring too.
