The easy-to-treat form of shoulder acne is a condition known as acne mechanica. In this form of shoulder acne, the initial cause of irritation to the skin is the accumulation of sweat underneath shoulder pads, brassiere straps, or tight-fighting clothing. The skin responds to irritation by creating more sebum. The oily sebum builds up in pores that become clogged, resulting in whiteheads, blackheads, and pimples.

I used dermalmd blemish serum on a giant-ass pimple that I had (guiltily) popped because it was too enormous and painful for me to deal with. While popping it was a mistake, using the after serum on it helped it heal within basically two days. It reduced in redness, size, and swelling, and then it just healed fully. I still have hyperpigmentation there because that’s just how my nasty skin works, but honestly I can’t think of anything else that would have worked better. The trick for that pimple was to constantly re-apply the serum, like every few hours. It is a tiny bit sticky, but not greasy, and doesn’t give me more breakouts. I’ll keep using it for future explosions.
